Basketball Recap: Gilbert Takes a Loss

Gilbert played a tough contest on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 62-30 loss at the hands of the Academy of Science and Innovation Ravens. The Yellowjackets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-18.

Academy of Science and Innovation's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maiara Rodriguez, who posted 14 points in addition to seven assists and six steals. Rodriguez has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalani Rivera, who went 9 for 19 on her way to 24 points.

Gilbert now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Academy of Science and Innovation, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.

Gilbert does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Academy of Science and Innovation, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Classical Magnet at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
