Softball Recap: Blue Ridge Gets the Win

Blue Ridge's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Howe Bulldogs, sneaking past 2-1. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Paige Elder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Kenzie Baker was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-2. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Blue Ridge's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Howe, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blue Ridge will head out to square off against S & S Consolidated at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. S & S Consolidated will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Blue Ridge surely won't give up without a fight. As for Howe, they will head out on the road to challenge Leonard at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
