New Fairfield has gone 8-2 against Stratford recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Rebels will look to defend their home field against the Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. New Fairfield is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
New Milford hit New Fairfield with a four-run second inning on Sunday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rebels lost 10-3 to the Green Wave.
Lindsey Briggs made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Stratford made easy work of Kolbe-Cathedral on Wednesday and carried off a 13-1 win. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Morgan Letizia tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Ashlyn Tracy was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Riley Dicks was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple.
Stratford lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Stratford is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for New Fairfield, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. New Fairfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Stratford struggles in that department as they've averaged .349. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
New Fairfield came out on top in a nail-biter against Stratford in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. Do the Rebels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
