Belfry had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 41 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They blew past the Shelby Valley Wildcats, posting a 47-7 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Pirates' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky football rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the Wildcats are ranked 132nd).

Belfry's record now sits at 8-1. As for Shelby Valley, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-5 record.

Looking ahead, Belfry will take on Letcher County Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Cougars have now posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups. As for Shelby Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Harlan County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
