Basketball Recap: Haysville Campus Colts vs. Goddard Lions

The Haysville Campus Colts came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Goddard and snuck past 55-52. This was payback for Haysville Campus, who suffered a 75-63 loss the last time these two teams met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Haysville Campus to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaason Thomas, who scored 21 points along with six assists and three steals. Andrell Burton, jr was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Haysville Campus pushed their record up to 9-4 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Goddard, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Haysville Campus will take on the Railroaders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Newton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 206th, while the Colts are ranked 37th). As for Goddard, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. Andover Central is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.6 points per game this season.
