Basketball Game Preview: Newman Grove/St. Edward Panthers vs. Fullerton Warriors

The Newman Grove/St. Edward Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Fullerton Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Newman Grove/St. Edward was handed a 31-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Cedar Bluffs, sneaking past 45-43. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Panthers were down 27-13 in the second quarter.

Newman Grove/St. Edward's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zander Jarecki, who went 5 of 8 en route to 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The dominant performance gave Jarecki a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Reader, who posted 11 points in addition to six assists and five steals.

Newman Grove/St. Edward smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cedar Bluffs only pulled down eight offensive boards.

Meanwhile, Fullerton blew past Heartland Lutheran, posting a 66-38 win. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 20 points or more this season.

Fullerton has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points over those games. As for Newman Grove/St. Edward, their record now sits at 7-9.
