Basketball Game Preview: Brooks Eagles vs. Kennedy Crusaders

The Brooks Eagles will head out to challenge the Kennedy Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brooks is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57 points per game this season.

Brooks will head out to face Kennedy after giving up their first home loss of the season on Tuesday. Brooks fell just short of King by a score of 40-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since December 1, 2023.

Despite their loss, Brooks saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Macauri Sias, who posted nine points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Malik Arogundade, who had five points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Kennedy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Longwood, falling 59-38.

Like Brooks, Kennedy lost despite seeing results from several players. Ja'Veon Sargent-Williams led the charge by putting up nine points along with seven assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jovani Naverette, who posted nine points.

Brooks' loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 9-6. As for Kennedy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.

Thursday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Brooks just can't miss this season, having drained 58.1% of their field goals per game. However, it's not like Kennedy struggles in that department as they've made 49.1% of their shots this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
