Preview: Westover Patriots vs. Tift County Blue Devils

The Westover Patriots will head out on the road to challenge the Tift County Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Westover is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.

Westover scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 69-55 win over Shaw. Given Westover's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Shaw is ranked 243rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Westover's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Braylon Ball, who scored 16 points along with six assists and two steals. That's the first time this season that Ball scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Milton, who scored 16 points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Tift County's game on Friday was all tied up 25-25 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 57-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Houston County.

Westover's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Tift County, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Westover didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Tift County in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 56-50 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westover since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
