Baseball Game Preview: Bostonia Global Lobos vs. Gompers Prep Academy Eagles

The Bostonia Global Lobos will head out to face off against the Gompers Prep Academy Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bostonia Global's pitching crew has only allowed 0.8 runs per game this season, so Gompers Prep Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Bostonia Global played against Bonsall on Tuesday and lost via forfeit.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Gompers Prep Academy turned things around against Bayfront Charter on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Sharks with a sharp 9-2 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Eagles have posted against the Sharks since April 18, 2018.

Nathaniel Ramirez and Adam Mendoza made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Ramirez struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Mendoza struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Gompers Prep Academy's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-7 when he doesn't). At the plate, Ramirez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Mendoza went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Ramirez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played.

In other batting news, Diego Mendoza was incredible, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with seven stolen bases and four runs. Those seven stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Maxx Sandoval also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Gompers Prep Academy's record is now 6-8. As for Bostonia Global, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
