Baseball Recap: Waitsburg/Prescott's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Waitsburg/Prescott had lost four games straight , but after bumping their record up to 7-6 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Pomeroy Pirates 16-3. The game was the first time the Cardinals have beaten the Pirates on their field since March 27, 2015.

As for Pomeroy, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-8. Pirates fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Waitsburg/Prescott since on Friday.

For Pomeroy's part, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Boone Schmidt, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waitsburg/Prescott will host Non Varsity Opponent at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pomeroy, they will welcome Colton at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.5 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of.
