Softball Recap: Texas Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

Texas took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against Mt. Pleasant, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Texas had just enough and edged out Mt. Pleasant 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Texas has posted against Mt. Pleasant since April 9, 2019.

Eva Treadway spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in February.

At the plate, Cara Williams was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Tullos, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Texas' win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Pleasant, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-10-1.

Coincidentally, Texas and Mt. Pleasant will both be playing Marshall the next time they take the field. Texas will head out to face Marshall at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Mt. Pleasant will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
