Football Recap: ThunderRidge Grizzlies vs. Cherokee Trail Cougars

ThunderRidge lost against Cherokee Trail back in September of 2015, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The ThunderRidge Grizzlies were outmatched by the Cherokee Trail Cougars at home and fell 35-7. The Grizzlies haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Caeden Reeder threw for 150 yards on 20 of 41 attempts. Nick Seng was his top target, picking up 71 receiving yards.

Cherokee Trail's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyson Smith, who threw for 281 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt. Cherokee Trail also got a significant boost from Brian Tucker, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 95 yards.

ThunderRidge's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Cherokee Trail, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1.

ThunderRidge will venture away from home to take on Arapahoe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully ThunderRidge focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Friday. As for Cherokee Trail, they will be playing at home against Mountain Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 970 yards in their previous games.
