Recap: Golden Valley Cougars vs. Patterson Tigers
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Golden Valley Cougars ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against Patterson by a score of 59-52. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Golden Valley.
Golden Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Braden Castleton led the charge by scoring 18 points. Castleton is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ricardo Perez, who scored 17 points.
Golden Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Patterson, their loss ended a 15-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Golden Valley will take on Merced at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Merced will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Patterson, they will head out on the road to square off against Central Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Central Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1052nd, while Patterson is ranked 215th).
