Basketball Game Preview: Stone Tomcats vs. Pearl River Central Blue Devils

The Stone Tomcats will wrap up 2025 with a road trip to face off against the Pearl River Central Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Stone's offense hasn't had much luck over their past 12 games, but Monday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Tuesday, Stone took a blow against Northeast Jones, falling 49-13. While losing is never fun, the Tomcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while the Tigers are ranked 120th).

Taylor Perez was Stone's leading scorer, having posted five points. Kaedyn Myers held things down on the boards with 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Pearl River Central ended up a good deal behind Our Lady Academy on Tuesday and lost 49-30. The defeat continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Crescents: they've now lost four in a row.

Pearl River Central's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Stone, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-13.

Stone suffered a grim 40-14 defeat to Pearl River Central in their previous meeting back in November. Can the Tomcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
