Basketball Recap: Merit Preparatory Academy Comes Up Short

Merit Preparatory Academy lost against Intermountain Christian back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Merit Preparatory Academy Knights were beaten by the Intermountain Christian Lions 54-22. The Knights just can't catch a break and have now endured eight defeats in a row dating back to last season.

Intermountain Christian had a senior duo take command as Bella DuBois went 7 for 9 on her way to 16 points and four steals and Elaine Lunsford dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Lunsford is becoming a predictor of Intermountain Christian's success: when she posts at least ten boards the team is 6-1 (and 1-2 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Menning, who posted four points and six rebounds.

Merit Preparatory Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Intermountain Christian, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.

Merit Preparatory Academy will host American Prep WV at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Merit Preparatory Academy is facing American Prep WV at the right time seeing as American Prep WV is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Intermountain Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 81-32 defeat against Draper APA on the 19th.
