Basketball Game Preview: Winamac Warriors vs. Triton Trojans

The Winamac Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Triton Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Last Tuesday, Winamac took their match with ease, bagging a 54-26 victory over Culver Community. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season.

Winamac's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaybin Hines, who posted 12 points. Hines is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Will Malchow, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Triton earned a 53-42 win over Bethany Christian on Tuesday. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Bruins are ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Triton's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. As for Winamac, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Winamac came up short against Triton when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 41-34. Can Winamac avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
