Recap: Mainland Buccaneers vs. Melbourne Bulldogs
The Mainland Buccaneers entered their tilt with the Melbourne Bulldogs with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Mainland put the hurt on Melbourne with a sharp 63-41 win on Thursday. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-12.
It was another big night for Narayan Thomas, who scored 17 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of DeAndre Newland, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Mainland is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Melbourne, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Mainland won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Potter's House Christian at 8:30 p.m. on January 19th. Potter's House Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 256th, while Mainland is ranked 48th). As for Melbourne, Melbourne and Eau Gallie will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Eau Gallie is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
