Softball Game Preview: Palm Beach Gardens Gators vs. Wellington Wolverines

Palm Beach Gardens hasn't had much luck against Wellington recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Palm Beach Gardens Gators will venture away from home to square off against the Wellington Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Wellington will be up against a hot Palm Beach Gardens squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. Palm Beach Gardens came out on top in a nail-biter against Seminole Ridge on Thursday, sneaking past 3-1.

Shea Towns spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits.

On the hitting side, Victoria Scott was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season. Reagan Towns was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, Wellington posted their closest win since May 9, 2024 on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Seminole Ridge 3-1. Winning may never get old, but the Wolverines sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Not much got past Grace VanDyke, who gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Seminole Ridge off the board. VanDyke has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Erryn Lowe, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Angelina Baronci, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Palm Beach Gardens' record now sits at 7-2. As for Wellington, their record now sits at 6-1.
