Soccer Game Preview: Montwood vs. Eastwood

The Montwood Rams will head out to take on the Eastwood Troopers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Montwood will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals last Friday, then bounced right back against Coronado on Tuesday. Everything went Montwood's way against Coronado as Montwood made off with a 4-1 win. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but the Rams were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Eastwood, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Coronado a 2-0 shutout on Friday. Given the Troopers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 316th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gael Zavala and Nathan Price scored both of Eastwood's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

The victory got Eastwood back to even at 5-5. As for Montwood, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 9-3-1.

Everything went Montwood's way against Eastwood in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Montwood made off with a 4-1 victory. In that contest, Montwood amassed a halftime lead of 3-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
