The Loara Saxons will face off against the Saddleback Roadrunners at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Loara has played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Loara is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Western just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Pioneers by a score of 3-2.
Loara couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Western a tough time in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-30, 25-20, 15-25, 25-18, 17-15.

Defeat or not, Loara got some senior leadership from Hoang Diep and Petter Ofquila. Diep had nine digs and three aces, while Ofquila had 21 digs and four assists. With that strong performance, Ofquila is now averaging an impressive 11.8 digs per game.
Even though they lost, Loara was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 12 aces in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Saddleback was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Pioneer, falling 3-0.
While Saddleback was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Pioneer's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-19, 25-22.
Loara's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-6. As for Saddleback, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
