Softball Recap: Glenns Ferry Starts Season with Win Against Garden Valley

Glenns Ferry gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over the Garden Valley Wolverines. The Pilots haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Taylor Martinez made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Martinez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Stewart, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Shelby Dickson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Glenns Ferry has already played their next matchup, an 18-0 victory against Idaho City on the 14th. Garden Valley will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on New Plymouth at 4:00 p.m. on March 26th.
