Baseball Recap: Woodland Comes Up Short

If Woodland was feeling good fresh off their 8-2 takedown of Pond Creek-Hunter last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Woodland fell 9-4 to the Frontier Mustangs on Monday. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Patrick Freeman was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Trey Bennett, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Woodland's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Frontier, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-7.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Woodland Cougars face off against Morrison Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Frontier, they will head out to square off against Pawnee at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
