Basketball Recap: Southwood Falls Despite Big Games from Eric Fuller and Lyquinton Pinkney

Southwood easily dispatched North DeSoto last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Southwood Cowboys fell just short of the Northwood Falcons by a score of 45-42 on Friday. The Cowboys were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2017.

Southwood's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lyquinton Pinkney, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds, and Eric Fuller, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. What's more, Pinkney also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jacobi Davis, who posted eight points.

Southwood has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Northwood, their win bumped their record up to 12-20.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwood will take on Booker T. Washington-Shreveport at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northwood, they will head out to face off against Minden at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
