Softball Game Preview: Blountstown Tigers vs. Altha Wildcats

The Blountstown Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Altha Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Monday, Blountstown came up short against Franklin County and fell 6-3.

Marley Barfield was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. McKenzie Bellamy was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Altha was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Bay Haven Academy. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Buccaneers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Altha saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carrington Scott, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Altha's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Blountstown, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

Blountstown came out on top in a nail-biter against Altha when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 11-10. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
