League recap: Golden Sierra stuns Vacaville Christian in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Vacaville Christian, who took down 840th ranked Vacaville Christian, 35-12. Daniel Lesher ran for 72 yards in the win.

Golden Sierra moved up to 843 from 905 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Sierra Delta. The Grizzlies were able to make the jump by beating the Falcons 35-12.

Highlands's dynamic duo of Cheapell Morris and John Abalos proved tough for Encina Prep to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Morris threw for 182 yards and four touchdowns and Abalos had 87 yards receiving. Dominiec Fuse helped Highlands' passing attack out by catching two balls for 33 yards.

Chace Marlowe was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 151 yards as Rio Vista defeated the Bulldogs. Teammate Nick Lopez added to the ground attack by rushing for 47 yards.

Bradshaw Christian's Kevin Williams and Luis Romero have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Williams has thrown for 569 yards this season, while Romero, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 16 catches for 259 yards. The Rams' Marlowe leads the league in rushing yards with 828.

A big matchup in Sierra Delta this week will be when Highlands takes on San Juan. Matt Cokley's team is in fourth place, while the Spartans are in first place.

San Juan was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in the league.
