Preview: West County Bulldogs vs. Fredericktown Black Cats
West County is 9-1 against Fredericktown since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The West County Bulldogs are on the road again and play against the Fredericktown Black Cats at 7:30 p.m. on December 14th.
West County managed to keep up with Jefferson until halftime on Monday, but things quickly went downhill from there. West County was beaten by Jefferson 66-38.
Even though Fredericktown has not done well against South Iron recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Fredericktown put the hurt on South Iron with a sharp 53-29 win. The victory was some much needed relief for Fredericktown as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Fredericktown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Calie Allgier, who scored 17 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Keira Francis was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
West County has fallen quite a ways from their 25-6 record last season and are now at 2-5. As for Fredericktown, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
West County didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Fredericktown when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 44-40 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for West County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
