Softball Recap: West Rebels vs. Maryville Red Rebels

West fell victim to Maryville and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 16-0 to the Maryville Red Rebels. West has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

West saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Humphreys, who went 1-for-2 with a triple.

On Maryville's side, Bekah Duck was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Duck has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive pitching appearances. Duck was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Maryville got a massive performance out of Kristy McCord, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Thea Kote, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

West's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Maryville, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

West will head out on the road to face off against Lenoir City at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. West is facing Lenoir City at the right time seeing as Lenoir City is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. Maryville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
