Softball Recap: Lumen Christi Catholic Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

The Lumen Christi Catholic Titans earned a 6-1 win over the Marian Mustangs on Wednesday.

Bella Wrozek spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Bree Okoniewski and Laney Barancin did most of the damage at the plate: Okoniewski went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, while Barancin went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two hits gave Barancin a new career-high. Maddie Friedrich also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Lumen Christi Catholic pushed their record up to 14-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Marian, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lumen Christi Catholic will challenge Michigan Center at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Titans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Marian, they will face off against Bishop Foley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
