Soccer Game Preview: West Lafayette vs. Guerin Catholic

The West Lafayette Red Devils will venture away from home to take on the Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Lafayette's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for nine straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

West Lafayette's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They beat Crawfordsville by a goal, winning 1-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but West Lafayette were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Guerin Catholic). They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over Yorktown on Saturday. It was an even better day for Will Scheu as he scored five goals for his team.

Guerin Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those seven matches. As for West Lafayette, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9-1.
