Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jeremiah Johnson and Terrence Whiting Lead Beamer to Victory

Beamer won the last time they faced Decatur and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Beamer Titans came out on top against the Decatur Golden Gators by a score of 69-56. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Golden Gators are ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Beamer to victory were Terrence Whiting and Jeremiah Johnson. Whiting went 8 for 17 on his way to 23 points along with seven assists and five boards, while Johnson went 9 of 14 en route to 19 points. Whiting is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 16 every time he's taken the court this season. De'Tre Walker was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Beamer was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Loss or not, Decatur got some senior leadership from Dar Mcjimpson Jr and Dominique Degrate. Mcjimpson Jr went 7 of 14 on his way to 25 points, while Degrate went 7 for 14 en route to 18 points and eight boards. That's the most points Degrate has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Jorge Martinez, who posted five points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Beamer is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Decatur, they moved to 5-7 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Beamer has already played their next game, a 65-52 loss against Auburn Mountainview on the 17th. As for Decatur, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 83-53 victory against Tyee on the 15th.
