Volleyball Recap: Laton's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games + How To Watch

Laton had lost six straight headed into Thursday's match, but Jade Perez didn't let it get to seven. The Mustangs blew past the Riverdale Christian Ambassadors 3-0 on Thursday thanks in part to Perez, who had 16 digs and eight aces. She has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last six times she's played.

Laton never let Riverdale Christian on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-7, 25-14.

Leading Laton to victory were Sonia Hernandez and Marisol Martinez. Hernandez had three digs and three aces, while Martinez had six digs. Those three aces gave Hernandez a new career-high. Millie Jaramillo also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Laton was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 22 aces. They served 11 more aces than Riverdale Christian's also-impressive total of 11.

Laton's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 5-11. As for Riverdale Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Laton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Alpaugh on the 4th. As for Riverdale Christian, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against Kings Christian on the 4th.
