Basketball Game Preview: Lewis Cass Kings vs. Manchester Squires

Lewis Cass hasn't had much luck against Manchester recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. Having just played yesterday, the Lewis Cass Kings will head out on the road to face off against the Manchester Squires at 7:45 p.m.

On Friday, Lewis Cass didn't have quite enough to beat Northfield and fell 54-51.

Meanwhile, Manchester waltzed into their match on Saturday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They came out on top against the Cavaliers by a score of 68-55. Given the Squires' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lewis Cass better keep an eye on Gavin Betten. He was instrumental in Manchester's win, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 20 rebounds. The game was Betten's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Hendrix, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 19 points along with six assists and six boards.

Manchester smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.

Lewis Cass' loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Manchester, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Lewis Cass took a serious blow against Manchester in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 66-37. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Betten, who went 13 of 20 on his way to 32 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.
