One of the unique aspects of Florida high school baseball is that many of the medium and small school teams are just as competitive and have just as much talent as their large-school counterparts. So it shouldn't be any surprise that Florida dominates the MaxPreps Medium Schools Baseball Rankings with 8 teams in the top 25.

No other state comes close to matching Florida. California and Texas, the other two states the produce a high number of baseball prospects each year, have five teams combined.

Hartsville, a contender for the Class 3A championship in South Carolina along with defending champion Flora, is the No. 1 team in the rankings, followed by Sacred Heart-Griffin (Springfield, Ill.) and Greenway (Phoenix, Ariz.).

The medium school rankings are based on the MaxPreps Computer Rankings and include schools that play in state enrollment divisions generally between 1,000 and 2,000 students.
