West Branch has won eight straight games at home, while Dover has won eight straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. 11 must be West Branch's lucky number: they beat Louisville with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Warriors beat the Leopards by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-7.
Libbie Davis was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Metzgar, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Dover made easy work of Madison Comprehensive on Thursday and carried off a 16-3 win. Considering the Crimson Tornadoes have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Kara Lint looked comfortable as she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Dover got a massive performance out of Avery Contini, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Contini a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Charlie Reese, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.
West Branch's victory bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Dover, their win bumped their record up to 21-3.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. West Branch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Dover struggles in that department as they've averaged .350. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
