Basketball Recap: Loveland Takes a Loss

If Loveland was riding high fresh off their 65-23 takedown of Greeley West on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Loveland Red Wolves lost 56-36 to the Timnath Cubs on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Red Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Cubs are ranked 42nd).

Despite the defeat, Loveland saw an underclassman step up: freshman Addie Christopher posted 12 points. Christopher is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Courtlyn Yaussi was another key player, putting up nine points.

Timnath found their leader in sophomore Olivia Zadeh, who went 7-for-9 on her way to 19 points and six rebounds. Zadeh also set a new season-high mark in shooting accuracy with 78%. Another player making a difference was Lily Eisbrener, who scored five points.

Loveland's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Timnath, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Coming up, Loveland will host Windsor at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Windsor will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something Loveland surely won't give up without a fight. As for Timnath, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 46-39 victory against Thompson Valley on the 18th.
