After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Allendale, Hopkins was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Everything went their way against the Covenant Christian Chargers as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Hannah Brinks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Brinks was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Vanderkolk, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Cami Hibma, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Hopkins always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Hopkins pushed their record up to 7-8-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.
