Football Recap: Chatham Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Chatham and Dan River, and Dan River kept the tradition alive. The Cavaliers were dealt a 42-12 defeat at the hands of the Wildcats on Friday. If the Cavaliers were looking for revenge after losing 53-32 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jacob Vanderhyde threw for 57 yards on eight of 23 attempts. Ej Linder was his top target, picking up 48 receiving yards.

Kiyunn Myers had an outrageously good game for Dan River as he rushed for 167 yards and one score while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Daylin Gregory did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 89 receiving yards.

Chatham has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Dan River, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Chatham does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dan River, they will head out on the road to challenge Gretna at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 971 yards in their previous games.
