Basketball Game Preview: Creede Miners vs. De Beque Dragons

The Creede Miners and the De Beque Dragons will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Creede has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Creede is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 48-21 victory over Lake City. The Miners pushed the score to 44-11 by the end of the third, a deficit Lake City cut but never quite recovered from.

Creede's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jasmin Laing, who almost dropped a triple-double on 17 points, ten boards, and nine steals. Laing is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 23 games she's played dating back to last season. Angel Edmonds was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 16 boards.

Creede was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, De Beque strolled past North Park with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 42-25.

Creede's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for De Beque, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Creede was dealt a bruising 76-19 defeat at the hands of De Beque in their previous meeting back in December of 2018. Thankfully for Creede, Faith Novess (who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 11 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
