Basketball Game Preview: Alamo Heights Mules vs. Boerne Greyhounds

Two dominant guards in Gunnar Jones and Casen Hoegemeyer are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Alamo Heights Mules will be playing at home against the Boerne Greyhounds at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Alamo Heights will bounce into Friday's game after beating Boerne-Champion, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Alamo Heights snuck past Boerne-Champion with a 58-54 win on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mules.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Alamo Heights to victory, but perhaps none more so than Beau Taber, who went 7 for 10 en route to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Elliott, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Boerne, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They put the hurt on Boerne-Champion with a sharp 75-54 victory on Monday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Greyhounds' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while the Chargers are ranked 85th).

Alamo Heights has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.9 points per game. As for Boerne, their victory bumped their record up to 17-10.

Alamo Heights beat Boerne 53-44 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Will Alamo Heights repeat their success, or does Boerne have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
