Basketball Recap: Dreyfoos School of the Arts Takes a Loss

Dreyfoos School of the Arts was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by the American Heritage Stallions and fell 51-22. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-22 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Dreyfoos School of the Arts still got an impressive performance from Summer Irwin, who posted four points along with 14 boards and three blocks. With that strong performance, Irwin is now averaging an impressive 8.4 boards per game.

Even though they lost, Dreyfoos School of the Arts smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

American Heritage's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayden Presser led the charge by putting up 18 points. Joslyn Klein was another key player, posting 12 points.

Dreyfoos School of the Arts' record now sits at 3-6. As for American Heritage, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-9.

Dreyfoos School of the Arts will head out to take on Morningside Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for American Heritage, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Martin County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Martin County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.8 points per game this season.
