Football Recap: Viewpoint Starts Season with Victory Against Channel Islands + How To Watch

Viewpoint had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They breezed past the Channel Islands Raiders to the tune of 27-0.

Magnus Merriman was a one-man wrecking crew as he threw for 246 yards and two TDs while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt, and also punched in one score on the ground. Those 246 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Shane Anderson was Merriman's top target, picking up 101 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Viewpoint didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Ainabe Osezuwa, Darnell Berry, and Ben Burkin picked up one apiece.

Coming up, Viewpoint will take on Del Sol at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Channel Islands, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hueneme at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
