Football Recap: Viewpoint Starts off Right with Win over Channel Islands + How To Watch

Viewpoint had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They claimed a resounding 27-0 victory over the Channel Islands Raiders.

Magnus Merriman had an outrageously good game as he threw for 246 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt, and also punched in one score on the ground. Those 246 passing yards gave him a new career-high. A healthy portion of Merriman's aerial production (101 yards to be exact) went to Shane Anderson, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Viewpoint didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Ainabe Osezuwa, Darnell Berry, and Ben Burkin picked up one apiece.

Looking ahead, Viewpoint will look to takes advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Del Sol at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Channel Islands, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hueneme at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
