Borah hasn't had much luck against Owyhee recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Borah will challenge Owyhee at 6:30 p.m. Borah has given up an average of 7.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Borah will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Moscow on Saturday. Borah won by a run and slipped past Moscow 13-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since March 8, 2024.
The team relied heavily on Brady Robinson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tate Kubena, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Owyhee put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Rocky Mountain by a score of 9-6.
Kaleb Doty looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up a single walk any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Gage Haws was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Jack Hallenbeck was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Owyhee pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Borah, their record is now 4-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Borah has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Owyhee struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Borah suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Owyhee in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can Borah avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
