Softball Game Preview: Rio Vista Rams vs. Mesa Verde Mavericks

After both having extra time off, the Rio Vista Rams and the Mesa Verde Mavericks will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rio Vista will be strutting in after a victory while Mesa Verde will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Thursday, Rio Vista got the win against Vacaville Christian by a conclusive 15-8. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.

Samiah Holley and Makyla Mandujano did most of the damage at the plate: Holley went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Mandujano went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Kennedi Lehigh was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Rio Vista hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vacaville Christian struck out nine times.

Meanwhile, Mesa Verde came up short against Golden Sierra last Thursday, falling 21-3. The Mavericks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The win made it two in a row for Rio Vista and bumps their season record up to 7-5. The team dominated over those games too, winning by an average of 8.5 runs. As for Mesa Verde, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
