Basketball Recap: Arrupe Jesuit Generals vs. Fort Lupton Bluedevils
Arrupe Jesuit was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Fort Lupton Bluedevils, falling 47-26. The Generals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bluedevils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.
Fort Lupton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maddie Beverly led the charge by putting up 17 points along with seven boards and six steals. Those 17 points gave Beverly a new career-high. Marely Gomez was another key player, posting ten points in addition to eight assists and seven steals.
Arrupe Jesuit's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Fort Lupton, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 11-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arrupe Jesuit will venture away from home to square off against The Academy at 5:30 p.m. on February 18th. As for Fort Lupton, they will take on Jefferson at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Jefferson will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Fort Lupton surely won't give up without a fight.
