Ciara Bonner leads a balanced attack to beat Crown Point

Recap: Chesterton Trojans vs. Crown Point Bulldogs

Even though the Chesterton Trojans have not done well against the Crown Point Bulldogs recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Chesterton managed a 52-47 win over Crown Point. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Chesterton also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Chesterton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ciara Bonner, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney King, who scored 11 points along with three steals.

Despite the loss, Crown Point still got an impressive performance from Ava Ziolkowski, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 15 rebounds. Ziolkowski scored a full 57.4% of Crown Point's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Alivia Otten was another key contributor, scoring three points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Crown Point were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Chesterton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Crown Point, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.

Chesterton will be playing in front of their home fans against Westville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Crown Point will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Michigan City at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Michigan City is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
