Football Game Preview: Marion County Eagles vs. Schley County Wildcats + How To Watch

The Marion County Eagles will square off against the Schley County Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Marion County comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Marion County is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Macon County on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Eagles lost 40-20 to the Bulldogs. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 20-0.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Schley County). They blew past Central 61-6 on Friday. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Marion County better keep an eye on Blake Weldon. He was instrumental in Schley County's win, throwing for 150 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 passes, while also punching in one touchdown on the ground. What's more, Weldon posted two passing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Caleb Renfroe made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Schley County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 213 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 155 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

Schley County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Renfroe led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Amir Nelson was another major factor on D, picking up three sacks and making six total tackles (3.5 for loss).

Marion County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Schley County, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
