Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Finley Love and Prescott Carey Lead Grapevine to Victory

Grapevine took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Colleyville Heritage, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs had just enough and edged out the Panthers 3-2 on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Mustangs, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Grapevine was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (101-93), but they still managed to win. The final score came out to 25-19, 13-25, 15-25, 25-19, 15-13.

Grapevine was led to victory by Prescott Carey and Finley Love. Carey had 24 digs and one assist, while Love had 38 assists and nine digs. Love has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more assists the last 13 times she's played.

When it comes to explaining why Colleyville Heritage lost, don't look at Chloe Flowers. Despite the final result, she had 17 digs and four aces. Maddie Yearian was another key player, getting 22 assists and eight digs.

Grapevine's record now sits at 19-16. As for Colleyville Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-12.

Coincidentally, Grapevine and Colleyville Heritage will both be playing Argyle the next time they take the court. The Mustangs will host the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Panthers will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
