Softball Recap: North County Knights vs. Northeast Eagles

North County had lost four straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 7-10 to make it five. They lost 14-0 to the Northeast Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 13-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Northeast, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games.

For Northeast's part, Taylor Castle was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Castle has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynn Jones, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one triple.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. North County will square off against rival Old Mill at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Northeast is set to face off against their familiar foe Arundel at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 1.3, the Wildcats 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
