Football Recap: Rockmart Skates Past Coahulla Creek with Ease

Rockmart waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took their game with ease, bagging a 41-0 win over the Coahulla Creek Colts. Considering the Yellowjackets have won three contests by more than 34 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Rockmart got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nate Davis out in front who rushed for 116 yards and two TDs on only nine carries, and also picked up 35 receiving yards. Davis' longest rush was for an impressive 57 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another receiver making a difference was Gavin Green, who picked up 153 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Rockmart proved: they limited Coahulla Creek to a paltry 2.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Davis for the heroic effort on defense: he. Rockmart didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.5.

Rockmart's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Coahulla Creek, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

The Yellowjackets will need to watch out since the Phoenix have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matches. As for Coahulla Creek, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
